Handling and storage
Brewers Yeast is preserved with a small amount of organic acid so that the product can be kept for at least 6 weeks. Brewers Yeast should be stored in an acid-resistant silo or bunker with agitator. In order to prevent segregation, Brewers Yeast must be stirred, preferably before initiation of induction. The regular cleaning of storage units, premixers and the like is essential for the hygienic supply of liquid feed to pigs and to prevent fermentation in stores, premixers and pipes. Brewers Yeast is best stored in vertical tanks designed to hold and dispatch bulk liquid feeds. The product will seperate over time thus a form of agitation in the storage tanks would be of benefit.
Brewers Yeast is an assured feed that is included in the FEMAS Certification for which the supplying breweries are certified.
Duynie Ltd is approved against the requirements of the Universal Feed Assurance Scheme (UFAS) accreditation for the merchanting of compound feed and assured feed materials, including third party haulage.
All Duynie's co-product feeds are obtained from factories that select and process only food quality raw materials. No claim is made that the raw materials are GM-free and the feeds should not be used by organic livestock farmers.
